Hello everyone!
Before maybe last year, I wasn’t really aware of novels that were going to be released in the years to come. I mostly discovered books as they came out, but definitely not a year or even two before they were on shelves. All of that changed, of course, when I started talking about books online and blogging; now I am very much aware of so many of the books that have yet to be released and it’s been so much fun! But also, sometimes, when I’m trying to think about a novel I’d like to read, the first one that comes to my mind is one that is not available yet and then I want to cry. 😭
I have discovered so many debut authors as well, releasing their first novels that I have been so excited to read. 2019 was absolutely fantastic, and 2020 will also be spectacular. That’s why I wanted to write this post today, sharing with you some of my most anticipated debut novels releasing in 2020!
The Lucky Ones by Liz Lawson
The Lucky Ones is about life after a tragedy; about grief and survivor’s guilt. Will this novel crush my heart? I have no doubt. It will be emotional and surely devastating at times, but I believe it will be a truly important and impactful novel. I am both not ready and ready but one thing I am sure about is that I will read it. I will just make sure to have a box of tissues next to me when I do.
The Silence of Bones by June Hur
Thinking about it, I rarely read historical novels, but the mystery and police investigation elements drew me into the story right away; the moment I read the synopsis, I knew I was going to read this novel. The time period and everything it will bring adds another layer to the story I cannot wait to discover, and I can tell the atmosphere will be gripping. It is one of these novels I think about regularly even though I have not read it yet.
Tweet Cute by Emma Lord
I am getting more and more into contemporary novels, and Tweet Cute sounds like one I would enjoy immensely. A romance intertwined with a social media rivalry alike some we have seen on Twitter in the last few years ? It sounds like a lighthearted and fun read while also having a lot of emotions; a novel I will probably read really quickly and that will warm my heart.
These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong
You know how I said I sometimes wanted to cry because a book I’m in the mood to read is not out yet? That’s especially true with Chloe Gong’s debut, These Violent Delights. A monster, rivals having to work together to fight said monster (I am sensing a strong rivals-to-romance trope, and I’m here for it) with family feuds in the background sounds like an incredible novel. It will give Romeo & Juliet a whole new twist, one I cannot wait to find out. But now here’s to hoping the ending isn’t as tragic as Shakespeare’s story…
Diamond City by Francesca Flores
Diamond City, to me, sounds like a story with truly high-stakes and sublime world-building. I am already intrigued by the history of the world Francesca Flores crafted, and the secrets the Diamond City holds. I’m also very curious about Aina, her life and backstory; I have a feeling I will be rooting for her throughout the whole novel. I am very glad Diamond City is going to be released in January because it doesn’t seem too far away.
Special 2021 debut mention
Counting Down with You by Tashie Bhuiyan
I simply could not write this post without mentioning Counting Down with You. I have been following Tashie’s writing and publishing journey on Twitter for a while now, and I was absolutely thrilled when she announced she was going to be a published author. Her debut novel is a contemporary romance (fake-dating trope, hello!) which I’m sure will be filled with emotions, relevant conversations and a whole lot of wholesomeness. I can already tell you I will be pre-ordering this novel as soon as I can!
Here are some of my most anticipated debut novels of 2020, and I’m sure I will discover even more along the way! I would love to hear some of your most anticipated novels for the coming year(s) and chat in the comments 📚💖
Until next time,
I can’t wait for Liz Lawson’s book!

I can’t wait either! It’ll be heartbreak in a novel, but it’s so important and I’m sure it’ll be incredible ♥

Ooh thanks for bringing my attention to these debuts! I hadn’t heard about any of these except for Tweet Cute – which I’m really excited for! – but all these others sound amazing too, particularly that Romeo and Juliet retelling 😄 2020 can’t come fast enough!

Thank you for this list, I’ll have to check these out! The funny thing is, even after starting book blogging, I can’t keep up with book releases xD

Oh, I can’t keep up either, believe me! There are so many new books, I’m sure I only come across a very small number of them haha

I’m anticipating all of these books as well!! The Lucky Ones has such a gorgeous cover, which is why I’m looking forward to it.. oops, but it’s premise sounds so good too!! I also can’t wait for The Silence of the Bones! It has such a beautiful cover, and I’ll forever be sad that Edelweiss rejected me for it. I’ve never read anything set in historical Korea, let alone a mystery set in it!
I know about These Violent Delights because of Chloe Gong’s Twitter, and ugh, it sounds so good.
I mean, I probably won’t get to these books when they release because I’m horrible at reading new releases, but one can hope :”)

I completely agree, the cover for The Lucky Ones is stunning ♥ And don’t say oops, it’s okay to become interested in a novel because of its cover! We’ve all done it. I was also rejected for The Silence of Bones so we can cry together 😦
I don’t always read books right when they release (current example: I’m reading Crier’s War but it came out a few weeks ago) but I always keep them in mind for when I’m in the mood! Thank you Caitlin ♥
