Hello everyone! 🍂
Back in June, the lovely Lauren @ twenty-seven letters nominated me for the Liebster Award, which I am so thankful for! Lauren has been such a sweet and friendly presence ever since I started blogging which I am incredibly thankful for. I really suggest giving her blog a read, it’s so worth it!
I know it took me quite a while (understatement right here) to write this post, because I always think about my answers so much, probably way too much honestly. I just love these type of posts because it’s a chance to get to know a blogger a bit more!
Here are the few rules for the Liebster Award:
- Thank the blogger who nominated you, provide a link to their blog and display the award.
- Answer 11 questions they asked you.
- Come up with your own 11 questions.
- And lastly, tag some bloggers!
If you could trade lives with one fictional character, who would it be and why?
I read a lot of fantasy, dystopia or even science-fiction where characters are put in impossible situations I’m not sure I’d like to go through, so it’s a difficult question to answer. I think I’m going to pick Emika Chen from Warcross by Marie Lu because one, I love playing video games but I also love the idea of uncovering a mystery and being in a futuristic timeline. It wouldn’t be easy, but it would be interesting!
“And that’s when I realize that, at the end, we’d all wish for the same thing. Just a little more time.”
If you could see any artist, singer, or group perform live (dead or alive), who would be your top three?
First, I’d say Halsey, which is kind of funny because I had a ticket to see her in England a few years back, but I didn’t go because I was too nervous and I was worried I’d panic in the crowd. Then Taylor Swift, because I’ve loved her music for so long, and after watching her Reputation Tour concert on Netflix, I can’t even imagine how incredible it is to see her live. Finally, I’d say CHVRCHES because their albums are all wonderful and hearing their songs live sounds amazing.
What book/story turned you into a reader?
I honestly couldn’t say, I’ve been reading ever since I actually learned to. Thanks to my parents, I’ve always had books at home. I couldn’t remember the one story that turned me into a reader.
What language would you love to learn if you had the time to, and why?
If I could learn all the languages in the world, I would, believe me. But if I had to choose only one, it would probably be German. See, I’ve tried learning German in school and I took the class for five years (plus one semester at university) and I never managed to truly learn it. I tried so hard but despite that, I ended up with bad grades and I can’t hold a conversation in the language, let alone understand it. I found it so frustrating because I tried my best. People also always commented on it, they found it strange I struggled so much with German when I managed to learn English to the point where I’m fluent. But I’d love to properly learn it someday.
What is one place you have never traveled to that you are dying to visit and what would you want to do there?
I’d love to go to Australia someday! Sure, I’d be absolutely terrified of the spiders there, but I have friends living in Australia and I really want to visit them. Also, I’ve met people who went there or even lived there for a while, and talked highly of it so I’m curious!
What is your most effective solution to get out of a reading slump?
I’d say my most effective solution is to not stop reading. And by that I mean, when I feel like a reading slump might be on the way, I still try to read at least one chapter every evening. I started doing this at the beginning of the year, and I’ve read almost every evening since (except a couple times when I was really sick or because I had work late in the evening). It’s worked really well!
Why did you start blogging?
I’ve tried several times to start blogging, but I never stuck to it. This year however, I decided it was time and I couldn’t be happier. I wanted a place where I could talk about all of my favourite books and be part of discussions. And I have to say, I love it SO MUCH.
What is the best thing to happen to you so far in 2019?
It might sound slightly strange, but I think it is finally acknowledging I have bipolar disorder publicly through this blog post. For so long, I’ve wanted to be able to talk about it, because it is an issue that is so important to me. But I was never ready because I found it so scary. It took me a whole month to write the blog post, but now I feel so much better and I can finally bring awareness on its representation in the media and I finally feel alright talking about it. It’s such a huge step for me, and definitely one of the best thing that’s happened to me so far this year. I should also mention getting a full-time job last week, it’s a highlight of this year for sure.
Would you choose an elephant-sized puppy or a puppy-sized elephant, and why?
I would definitely choose a puppy-sized elephant, simply because it would be so much easier to care for. I mean, where would I even put an elephant-sized puppy for them to live?
What is the best concert/show/musical/play/live performance you’ve been to, and why?
At the end of 2017, one of my closest friends asked me if I wanted to go see Hamilton on the West End with her, which was a complete surprise! I’ve loved Hamilton for a few years now, and I’d listened to the original cast recording a lot. So, of course, I said yes and it was the most magical moment EVER. The first song started, and I started crying right then, because I was that emotional. It was beautiful and I loved it. I’m still waiting on an original cast recording for Hamilton West End (I’ll never lose hope it will happen).
What is a favorite memory you have that is associated with reading?
It’s a very recent one, but I recommended one of my favourite series to one of my friends and I was so nervous she wouldn’t enjoy the books. But she did, and now we can talk about it together and it’s so much fun! It’s honestly the best feeling. For this award, I nominate: Clara, Alys, Caro & Marija 💝Of course, don’t feel obligated to do it! And here are my questions:
- If you were to get a book-related tattoo, what would you choose?
- What are your top three favourite tropes (in books, movies, shows…) ?
- What is your latest favourite music album?
- If you could use one of the magical systems from any book, which one would you pick and why?
- How do you choose which book you’re going to read next?
- What is your favourite tv show and why?
- What form of storytelling do you love, aside from novels?
- Who are your favourite authors?
- What book character do you feel you are most similar to?
- If you could travel to a fictional universe for a vacation, what destination would you choose?
- What movie have you seen multiple times, and why?
What language would you love to learn? Do you have a favourite memory associated with reading? What is one good thing that happened to you in 2019? I’d love to chat in the comments!
