The Netgalley Book Tag, all about my reviewing habits and novels I can’t wait to read 🌷

netgalley book tagHello everyone!

I’m so sorry I haven’t been really active the past few days. Work has been hectic, so I mostly focused on reading and relaxing when I could. But I missed blogging a lot, so when the lovely Caro from Bookcheshirecat tagged me in the Netgalley Tag, I knew it was the perfect opportunity. So thank you so much Caro for tagging me, and please check out her blog, I love her posts! This tag was created by Kourtni Reads and I had a lot of fun answering the questions!

I have a Netgalley account and I was lucky to be approved for an ARC towards the start of the year. Though I have to admit, I very rarely request novels simply because as an international blogger, so many of the books I’d love to request are only available to wish for. I do wish for a few of them, but I don’t really expect to be approved for these ARCs. Still, I give it a try because who knows?

🌷 But without further ado, here are the rules for this tag:

  • Link back to the tag’s creator.
  • Thank and link back to the person who tagged you.
  • Answer the questions the best you can. If you don’t use NetGalley, you can substitute other sites or places where you get books!
  • Tag a few people to do this too.

🌷 Auto-Approved: Who’s one author whose books you automatically want to read, regardless of what they’re about?

netgalley1Marie Lu is the first author that came to mind for this question. I read Warcross last year, and I absolutely fell in love with it so this year, I read her other series, The Young Elites & Legend. It’s no surprise I also loved both these series, and I simply adore her storytelling, her writing style and how I’m always surprised by where the story goes. Her characters are incredible, Emika Chen and Adelina Amouteru are two of my favourite characters ever. So of course, I’m really excited for all of Marie Lu’s upcoming novels, they’re going to be great!

🌷 Request: What makes you want to request a book that you see on NetGalley?

I would say the first thing is when I’ve already heard of a novel, and I found the synopsis intriguing. If it is a novel I haven’t heard of before, I have to be honest and say that the cover will definitely play a role in me checking out the synopsis or not. In the end however, the synopsis is the main reason I will request a novel or not.

🌷 Feedback Ratio: Do you review every book you read? If not, how do you decide what books to review?

If we’re talking about all the books I read, then I don’t review all of them. Sometimes, despite loving a novel, I just can’t find the words to write a review. When I’m done reading a book and think about it, that’s when I’ll know if I’ll write a review. When it comes to ARCs I requested however, so far I’ve reviewed every single one. I just feel like I have to? And I’d feel bad if I didn’t write a review, even if I know it’s probably alright if I don’t.

🌷 Badges: If you could create your own badge to display on your blog, what would it be for?

This was a very tricky question for me, and I don’t know why. I decided to go with Fantasy Lover, because even though I, of course, read other genres, fantasy is my favourite. I read so many fantasy novels, novels with fantasy elements … And it’s really no secret.

🌷 Wish for it: What’s one book that you are absolutely dying to read?

netgalley2Crier’s War by Nina Varela, without a doubt. I was denied for an ARC, but that’s totally fine! It comes out in October, which isn’t that far, and I preordered it a few days ago. I rarely preorder physical copies of novels before I’ve read them (I buy the ebook first) but as you’ve seen, since I talked about it so much on the blog already, I can’t wait for Crier’s War. I’m so intrigued by the concept of this universe, the few quotes I have seen were beautiful … It’s probably a future ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ read!

🌷 2019 NetGalley Challenge: What was the last book that you received as an ARC that you reviewed? If you’ve never received an ARC, what’s the last book you reviewed?

It was my review for The Black Veins by Ashia Monet, which I received an ARC of as part of the Blog Tour for the release of the novel! 💜

I tag (and as usual, don’t feel pressured to do this tag 💗):

cloud(1)Do you use Netgalley? And if so, what are your thoughts on it? Which book are most anticipating this year? Or maybe next year? What would be your badge?

  1. This looks like a fun tag! I haven’t made a netgalley account yet, but it on my long list of blog to-do’s. Also, lowkey the idea of getting rejected for reading an arc makes me sad, so I’ve just procrastinated with it. However, I LOVE the design of that fantasy lover badge, I think if I made one it would for being an enemies to lovers fan.

    • Obviously, it’s always a bit sad when you get rejected for an ARC of a book you’re really anticipating, but in the end, I tell myself I’ll pick it up anyway even if I have to wait a bit more ♥ Thank you so much lovely, that’s so sweet! And enemies-to-lovers is also a GREAT one!

  2. Ahh thank you for the tag – this one looks super fun! Ever since Netgalley shunned us international bloggers, I stopped using it and checking it and transferred over to Edelweiss. But I still have a bunch of leftover books on there that I have to read 😫 I loved reading your answers – I am also super excited for Crier’s War! 💜

  3. I really like NetGalley, but I’ve recently toned down how many books I request. Like you, NetGalley books make up the majority of my reviews, which is helpful because I don’t know if I’d write ANY reviews on the blog otherwise! I think the book I’m dying to read is Wayward Son, but thankfully September is just a month away!

    • I’ve written more reviews outside of ARCs, but maybe that’s because I don’t get many ARCs to begin with. Deciding which book to write a review for is always different for me honestly! Ah I’m so glad your most anticipated book is so close!! ♥

  4. Great post, I just made a post about NetGalley as well! It’s annoying when books are under ‘Wish For It’, they never get approved.

  5. Lovely answers for this tag! 🙂 I haven’t read all of Marie Lu’s books just yet, I have started all of her series and need to continue them haha, I’ve loved them all so far so very much! 🙂

  6. So happy to see that you’ve done the Tag! 😊❤ I LOVE Marie Lu as well, Warcross was what really hooked me as well and then I also loved the Young Elites and cannot wait to get to read more of her books 😍 When it comes to Netgalley I usually request/wish and hope for the best, but I wish they would give international readers more of a chance 🙁

  7. Seeing Marie Lu’s book covers all lined up made me so emotional for some reason?? I just miss reading her books so much — she’s truly one of my favorite authors and I’m so so excited to reread the Legend trilogy and also Rebel when it comes out in October. (I also really need to read The Young Elites again because I feel like I didn’t properly appreciate it when I first read the series!) And aahh Crier’s War sounds SO good! I’m lucky enough to be on a blog tour for it, so I got an eARC, and I’m really excited to dive into it, since I don’t think I’ve heard a single negative thing about it 😍 Great post!!

    • Thank you so much May! 💛 I read the Legend trilogy this year, and I can’t wait for Rebel! The end of Champion broke me, so many feels honestly 😭 I can’t wait to have one final book with them, even if it’ll be emotional.
I was declined for an ARC of Crier’s but I was expecting it, I still preordered a copy of it and I’m so excited to be in October and read it 😍

  8. It’s been a long time since I last used Netgalley! I’d use it frequently, but now my tablet memory can’t endure any more updates of the Kindle app and I can’t read on my laptop, so I had to give up (for now, at least). I was super competitive about my ratio and I remember always having it above the recommended – I would get stressed otherwise. I loved reading your answers! And the badge you designed is really beautiful ❤
