WWW Wednesday, 5th June 2019: a rare reading mood and a new reading experience 💜

www wednesday(1)Hi everyone!

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words in which you answer three simple questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

The beginning of June has been quite slow reading wise for me, or at least it feels that way. I feel like I have so many books I want to get to, but a very limited amount of hours during the day to actually read. I started at my summer job three days ago, and I have been very busy. But I’m still reading, and that’s what makes me happy: I was worried I was getting into a reading slump, but I realized I’m simply tired. It’ll get better in a few days and I can’t wait for all the books I’m going to read this month.

What I’m currently reading: Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

I think I’m going to finish reading this novel very soon, and I’ve been enjoying it so much. It’s a ray of sunshine at the end of my day with its funny moments but also emotional and heartfelt scenes. I have laughed a lot reading it, but I have also felt so many different emotions. 💖 I have a lot of love for these characters, and I’m so curious to see where the story is going to go. I was suddenly in the mood for a contemporary novel, which is so rare I can’t remember the last time it actually happened, and I’m so glad I picked up Red, White & Royal Blue.

⛅ What I recently finished reading: The Lovely and The Lost by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

the lovely and the lost(2)This novel was one of my most anticipated novels of the year, and I loved it. I rated it ⭐⭐⭐⭐; I loved the characters, it was so easy to get attached to them. I was sad to say goodbye to them at the end, and I would have loved to spend a lot more time with them. I enjoyed the mystery a lot, I was definitely surprised by the turn it took and all the little clues and history the characters had. I love the family bonds and the friendships portrayed as well. I would have simply liked the novel to be a bit longer and to have more closure at the end. I also listened to this novel on audiobook, which I’ve never done before. I tried listening to one once, but never actually finished it. It was a different reading experience, and I loved the narrator a lot. I tried multitasking while listening to it, but I couldn’t focus so I mostly just listened and I overall really enjoyed it. I don’t think I’ll listen to audiobooks often, but I’m happy I did with The Lovely and The Lost.

What I might read next: Eclipse the Skies by Maura Milan

eclipse the skiesI usually say I can’t decide which book I’m going to read next, and have a few options. This week however, I’m sure my next read is going to be Eclipse the Skies. I loved the first novel in this duology, Ignite the Stars, and I have been looking forward to the sequel ever since. It comes out in September, and I was ready to read it then, but I was so lucky to be accepted for an ARC on Edelweiss. 💙 I’m not prepared to read the ending, but I’m definitely prepared to cry. Endings of series are always really emotional for me, and I cry. But I’m really excited to get back to this universe and see what the story holds.

What have you been reading since the beginning of June? Any novels you can’t wait to get to this month? Do you have a release you’re anticipating?

Until next time,
