Six for Sunday: 2019 books I’m really excited for, with some of my most anticipated debuts and sequels 💛

six for sunday(2)Hi everyone!

When I was tweeting about my most anticipated reads for 2019 at the end of last year, I realized so many amazing books were coming out. I’ve already read a few 2019 releases, and some have made it to my list of favourite novels of the year such as The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi and Descendant of the Crane by Joan He. Both were 5-star novels for me, and I love them so much.

But the year is far from over, and there are still so many 2019 books that haven’t come out yet that I’m really looking forward to reading. This is today’s prompt for the Six for Sunday weekly event created and hosted by Steph over at A little but a lot: 2019 books I’m excited for. Here they are!

🌻 Wicked Fox by Kat Cho

📖 Release date: June 25th 2019

wicked foxThe moment I learned this novel was going to be published, I just knew I would read it. A few years ago, I watched a Korean drama about a Gumiho, and I loved it. Obviously, the Wicked Fox synopsis reminded me of that story a little bit, and I was intrigued. At the time, the cover hadn’t been revealed yet, but I fell in love with it once it was. It’s gorgeous, and I have a feeling it really does represent the atmosphere of the novel well. I can’t wait to read this novel as I’m sure I will love it!

🌻 The Dragon Republic by R.F. Kuang

📖 Release date: August 6th 2019

dragon republic(1)Now, most of you know The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang was one of my favourite novels of 2018. It truly was an incredible novel that I think about very often, months after I read it. The Dragon Republic is the sequel to that book, so I of course can’t wait to finally read it and continue on with Rin’s story. After the ending of The Poppy War, which shattered my heart (a lot of the novel did to be fair, not only the ending) I’m so curious to see where the story will go. The only thing I’m sure of is that I will need a lot of tissues to get through it because I know for a fact I will cry. And I’m okay with it.

🌻 Girls of Storm and Shadow by Natasha Ngan

📖 Release date: November 5th 2019

girls of storm and shadowLike for the previous book, this novel is the sequel to Girls of Paper and Fire, one of my favourite novels of 2018. I can still see myself, at university, unable to put this book down because it was just that good. I was literally sitting at lunch, reading, then I had a few hours to wait for one of my lecture and I just kept reading. First of all, I have to say I love the title of this sequel even if I can’t explain why exactly. I’m so excited for the cover reveal, seeing how stunning the cover for Girls of Paper and Fire is. I have no idea where the story is gonna go after the ending of the first novel (oh that epilogue …) and I can’t wait to find out.

🌻 Crier’s War by Nina Varela

📖 Release date: October 1st 2019

crier's warLook at that cover. Look how beautiful it is. Seeing the cover was the first I heard of Crier’s war, and I immediately looked it up to see what the novel was about. You know when you read a synopsis and you know this is a story you will love? This is what happened for me with Crier’s War. I found the concept of the story so fascinating I wanted to know more right away and read the novel. I’m sure I will read it very soon after its release.

🌻 A House of Rage and Sorrow by Sangu Mandanna

📖 Release date: September 3rd 2019

a house of rage and sorrowI read A Spark of White Fire very recently, and I loved it. I got really attached to the characters very quickly and everything about this story was captivating. Also, I love Esmae with all of my heart. The ending, once again, broke my heart into a million pieces because I had not expected it. It changed everything for the characters, and with that title, I can only imagine how emotional the sequel will be. I mean rage and sorrow? A sure sign my heart will break. But as usual, I’m perfectly okay with that.

🌻 Rebel by Marie Lu

📖 Release date: October 1st 2019

rebelAs you all know, I love Marie Lu. You can read all about it in this blog post I wrote a few months ago. I read her Legend trilogy this year which I loved very much. I had heard there was going to be a sequel, but I had no idea what it was about, because I hadn’t read the series yet (and I didn’t want to see spoilers). Once I finished reading Champion, I was so happy about the fact that this sequel was taking place after the trilogy. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to these characters yet. So I can’t wait for Rebel, even if this time, I really will have to say goodbye to the characters. It’s going to be an emotional one.

Here are six novels I’m really excited for in 2019! There are more of them of course, way too many in fact, but these are the ones I wanted to talk about today.

What’s one book you’re really excited for this year? What book from previous years are you looking forward to reading this year as well?

Until next time,

  2. I’m super excited for criers war as well. That cover is gorgeous and I haven’t read many queer fantasies even though I love queer books and fantasy novels. I hope you love it when you read it!

  3. All of these books are either on my TBR list or the previous ones in the series are. I really need to get on and read something by Marie Lu because I somehow haven’t yet although I really want to read all of her books and I’m super excited for Kingdom Of Back.
